Gestures
Keyboard
Remoter includes a full PC keyboard layout with Ctrl, Alt, function and navigation keys. You can switch between the PC keyboard and your regular Android keyboard from the session menu. USB and Bluetooth keyboards and mice work too — keys are sent to the remote computer as you’d expect.
Home screen shortcuts
You can create a home screen shortcut that connects directly to a saved host:
- Start adding a widget (long-press the home screen; exact steps depend on your device and Android version).
- Select Remoter Shortcut.
- Pick the connection from the list.
Connection troubleshooting
- Can’t reach the host — make sure the remote computer is on and reachable from your network (same Wi-Fi, or through your VPN), and that Remote Desktop is enabled on it (Settings → System → Remote Desktop on Windows).
- Connection refused or times out — check that TCP port 3389 (or the custom port in your connection settings) isn’t blocked by a firewall or router.
- Authentication fails — verify the username, password, and domain. For Microsoft accounts, the username is typically your full email address; for local accounts, you may need to leave the domain blank or use the computer name.
- Certificate warning — when a host presents a new or changed TLS certificate, Remoter shows it and asks whether to trust it. This is normal on the first connection to a host; only accept a changed certificate if you know why it changed (for example, the host was reinstalled).
